Modules take place over 3-4 months . All courses use video self-reflection as a main learning tool The courses below can be tailored to individual organisations training needs

Communicating with children:
This course is for those who want to develop their interaction with children, with a particular focus on dealing with difficult situations. Introducing the communication principles underlying successful social and emotional development, participants experience how their application creates change for the better

Assessment for Learning (Formative assessment)
In this course, teachers are introduced to interactive formative assessment and choose components to implement. Video feedback is then used to support participants to embed their chosen components into classroom practice.

Working with Autism 1
Communicating with young people on the autistic continuum and supporting them in the development of their own communication skills and social understanding brings it own challenges. Complementing other visual structured approaches, this course looks at the verbal and non-verbal communication that surrounds and reinforces them.

Working with people where there are Communication Differences and Abilities
Working with people with communication differences, resulting from a learning disability, dementia or brain injury, it can be hard to achieve communication that allows everyone's voice to be truly heard. This course develops staff skills in working with this client group, enabling them to see how they can make a difference.

Communication carries not only information, but also powerful emotional and motivational messages so it is important that communication is satisfying and effective. Video Enhanced Reflection on Communication has proved a very effective training method that enables real.

Seeing through 'new' eyes
The courses share a framework for the analysis of communication.

Seeing yourself
Each module begins with an introduction, which is followed by video feedback on your practice. You take video of yourself in your normal work and carry out an initial analysis. Training is given in taking and analysing video clips.

Seeing something new
Feedback is provided by University staff or others qualified in Video Interaction Guidance.

Supporting real change
Video enhanced reflection provides participants with real evidence of a change in their professional practice.
